Whether you are a public servant or a worker in a private company, you have certainly heard of PIS. It is a salary bonus, formed by a deposit from a private company and a public body into a fund destined for their employees. Understand how it works.
PIS is a social contribution paid by the private sector and also by the public sector, with the aim of better distributing income among those who receive a lower salary. PIS is the acronym for Social Integration Program and its main objective is to finance the payment of unemployment insurance.
The person responsible for paying these resources is the CEF (Caixa Econômica Federal) and Complementary Law No. 26 of 1975 unified the PIS and PASEP Funds, allocating both to the Workers' Support Fund, which covers the salary bonus and unemployment insurance. The amounts can also be used to finance BNDES programs.
Who is entitled to PIS/PASEP?
To be entitled to the bonus, it is necessary to meet certain requirements, such as having been registered for at least five years, having carried out paid work for a company for at least 30 days during the base year and finally, the worker must have their data correctly informed. at RAIS or eSocial.
Even if the worker meets these requirements, the bonus may not be paid. If there is no PIS number on the work card, he will not be able to receive the amount, and in this case he will have to ask the company to include the number.
Domestic employees, urban and rural workers who are employed by an individual and workers employed by an individual equivalent to a legal entity cannot benefit from PIS.
How to issue a citizen card?
Created to help workers who do not have a Caixa account, the citizen card allows withdrawals from FGTS, Unemployment Insurance and Auxílio Brasil/Bolsa Família. Only those who have some social benefit to receive have a citizen card.
This card can be requested at any Caixa branch and once the request has been made, the card is sent to the beneficiary's address or can be collected at the nearest CEF branch. To receive the benefit, the worker must also register the Citizen Password.
This password can be registered at a lottery. The citizen must go to the lottery carrying their citizen card along with an official identification document, unless they register the password at a box office. In this case, simply present one of the official documents.
You can withdraw PIS without a card, just go to a Caixa branch with an official identification document and you can even take advantage and request the card at the same opportunity. Beneficiaries who are not account holders can also receive the bonus through digital savings on the Caixa Tem app.
