The INSS Table (National Social Security Institute) is a fundamental element for understanding social security contributions and benefits offered to Brazilian workers.
The INSS is responsible for administering Social Security in Brazil, guaranteeing access to rights such as retirement, death pensions, sickness benefits and other benefits for taxpayers and their dependents.
Retirees and pensioners depend on this table to organize their finances. And it is through this that all payments are programmed.
Who should contribute to the INSS?
In Brazil, several categories of workers must contribute to the INSS to guarantee social security benefits and social protection.
They are: workers with a formal contract, both urban and rural, domestic employees and casual workers.
There is also the individual taxpayer, which covers self-employed workers, independent professionals and service providers who do not have an employment relationship. They contribute to the INSS individually, making direct payments to the INSS.
And finally there is the optional taxpayer, who are people who do not carry out paid work, such as students, housewives and the unemployed, and also special insured people, who are rural workers.
Contribution Table
If you want to plan to receive monthly help when you are no longer able to work, you need to pay more attention to paying your contribution.
Those who work with a registered card already have the automatic discount. The MEI (Individual Microentrepreneur) also contributes monthly when paying the Simples Nacional Collection Document (DAS).
Within the amount he pays, 5% is allocated to the INSS. Furthermore, anyone who is laid off or wants to make their contribution in advance can also do so individually. Just generate a payment slip on the Social Security website and pay it every month.
The amount paid in contributions to the INSS is exactly what the specific table states. Everything will depend on the server's salary or how much he will earn in benefits. The INSS payment calendar can be consulted here link
Up to R$1,302.00 – 7.5%
From R$1,302.00 to R$2,571.29 – 9%
From R$2,571.30 to R$3,856.94 – 12%
From R$3,856.95 to R$7,507.49 – 14%
Individual taxpayers must pay 20% on an amount between one minimum wage and the INSS ceiling. There is also the possibility of collecting 11% on the minimum which is equivalent to R$ 143.22.
Special policyholders must collect 1.3% on top of the value of gross revenues from rural production and MEIS, as we said above, contribute 5%. They can even supplement up to the limit of 20%.
Optional policyholders can collect 20% on an amount between one minimum wage and the INSS ceiling, with the possibility of collecting 11% on the minimum, or 5% on the minimum, if they meet the low income requirement.
How to find out the INSS benefit number?
The number is unique for each type of benefit and is made up of 10 numbers. To make an online inquiry, access the Meu INSS website (https://meu.inss.gov.br) or download the app for mobile devices (available for Android and iOS).
Log in or register if you do not already have an account. After accessing your account, look for the option “Benefit Payment Statement” or “Social Security Statement (CNIS)”. The benefit number will be available in these sections.
If you already receive an INSS benefit, the payment statement also contains the benefit number. This statement can be obtained at the bank where you receive the benefit or at ATMs using the INSS magnetic card.
If you have already requested a benefit and it has been granted, the INSS sends a grant letter informing the details of the benefit and its number. Please keep this letter for future reference.
If you are unable to obtain the benefit number through the aforementioned means, you can seek in-person assistance at an INSS agency. To do this, you need to schedule an appointment by calling 135 or on the Meu INSS website.
On the day of your appointment, bring your personal documents (RG, CPF, proof of residence) and, if possible, documents related to the benefit.
Remember that the INSS benefit number is important information and must be kept carefully, as it will be necessary in several situations, such as monitoring processes and obtaining information about the benefit.
Will the Thirteenth for retirees and pensioners be brought forward to 2023?
In the last 3 years, the thirteenth salary of retirees and pensioners has been brought forward due to the pandemic, however, for 2023 there is still no confirmation as to whether it will be brought forward once again.
Every year the value of the minimum wage is updated, and in 2023 its value is R$ 1,302.00 and the beneficiary can receive the maximum value of R$ 7,507.49.
However, in May 2023 the minimum wage will have another adjustment and will become R$ 1320.00. For those who earn more than 1 minimum wage or for those who receive the ceiling, the adjustment has not yet been defined.
