Did you know that more than 90 services can be consulted on your cell phone without needing to go to an agency? These include requests for maternity pay, retirement, sickness benefit and pension. See how to do it here.
INSS agencies are usually crowded and have long queues. If you just need to consult statements, check payment dates and available amounts, you can do this from home, without needing to travel.
There are three ways to do this. By phone, website or app. By phone, just call the call center on number 135. When calling, you must provide your CPF number and confirm some registration information, which is requested to avoid fraud. Tell us which benefit you want the information about.
Service is available from 7am to 10pm from Monday to Saturday. On the website, just access the Meu INSS address, which brings together various digital services. You need to log in, and on the home screen, just click on Payment Statement and you will have access to the statement and details about your benefit.
On this website you can also access other INSS services, make appointments, request other statements and consult other benefits. The same functions available on the website are available on the app. You can download the app on your cell phone, whether Android or iOS, and just like accessing the website, you need to log in.
Once logged in, just browse and you will have access to all available services and the history of requests you have already made, benefits you have had, and other services you have already enjoyed from the agency.
Application and benefits analysis
Applying for a benefit can now be done online. More than 90 services can be requested via the website or app. Among them are retirement based on age, contribution time, maternity salary, death pension, sickness benefit, unemployment insurance for artisanal fishermen, assistance benefits, etc.
To make things easier, you can also send digitalized, scanned documentation using photos taken on your cell phone. After sending the request, it is possible to monitor the progress of the request using the application protocol number.
After analysis, the INSS provides a diagnosis of the benefit that was requested and informs whether it was enabled, granted or rejected.
How to find out the INSS benefit number?
The INSS number is the same as the PIS/PASEP number, so just remember the PIS number and try to use it to access the information or schedule an appointment. This number can be found on your employment record or you can find it online. There are three ways to check INSS benefits.
Via the Meu Inss website, as mentioned above, via telephone 135 and via the app. It is important to be aware as policyholders are constant victims of scams. One of the most common scams is when criminals pretend to be members of the National Social Security Council and ask for cash.
These amounts would be to release supposed amounts of outstanding benefits. That does not exist. No amount is requested by any INSS agent to release any benefit. Therefore, to avoid this type of scam, it is important to be careful.
If you receive a strange call, do not provide any personal data, and do not use intermediaries to contact Social Security. And in no way deposit any amount to be entitled to any social security benefit.
If you have already been the victim of a scam like this, you should file a police report at the nearest police station and contact the INSS ombudsman. This money transfer scam is the most classic, but there are others too.
Beware of scams
Another widely used practice is the false promise of a benefit review. A person approaches the insured and states that he or she is entitled to receive amounts relating to a false review of benefits granted in other years and requests money to carry out this fraudulent review.
Benefit reviews are based on legislation and policyholders do not in any way need to make any payments to be entitled to them. On another occasion, they also talk about a false general Social Security audit. Criminals send documents and summon policyholders for a ransom.
According to Social Security, policyholders would have the right to redeem amounts owed and this would have been deducted from their payroll as a supplement to their retirement. The pension plan does not ask for data from policyholders via email or telephone. It even warns against giving this type of information.
As you may have seen, there are many ways to check your INSS benefit just with your CPF. But be careful and only consult this information on official Federal Government websites and applications and be aware of the scams we mentioned above. Never give your INSS number or information over the phone.
